VERNON — A Vernon musician has lost a laptop that he says had his ‘entire life on it’ and now Cory Myraas, who goes by the name Wildmills, is desperate to get the Macbook Pro back.

Myraas says he performed at Vernon’s Sunshine Festival on Saturday and while a cancer benefit and fundraiser was taking place on the stage, he says his laptop was stolen right off the side of the stage.

“There was a few panicked laps around to see if I could see anything. At that point, I think it was long gone,” says Myraas.

Myraas says he had put his belongings at the corner of the stage where he was standing and speaking with fans. He says he walked away for five or 10 minutes, while the event started.

When he got back, he noticed right away the bag was missing and he first assumed it had just been misplaced.

“So essentially [everything I need] to run as a business and how I make my livelihood was gone in the matter of five seconds,” he says.

The lap top contained new and old songs, recording programs and software, personal mementos from his travels as well as all press, publicity and contacts, according to Myraas.

The loss of the computer has forced him to cancel an upcoming Canada Day performance in Kelowna.

There are some private events which Myraas is unsure of whether he’ll be able to play for or not and the same goes for the Rifflandia Festival later this summer.

“It is hours upon hours of rebuilding the tracks, getting the recording programs back up to speed. The samples that I use when I play live, rebuilding my live show,” he says.

Myraas says his bag which was stolen also contained an honorarium cheque for his weekend performance.

He hopes the culprit(s) will see his plea to have his computer returned and ‘their conscious will get the better of them’.
